What is Hindi Samaaj?

| Objectives and Activities of Hindi Samaaj, Sydney
Hindi Samaaj is a Sydney Based non-profit organization trying to promote Hindi through its literary and cultural activities in Sydney for the past few decades. Hindi is the second most spoken language in the world following the Chinese. Hindi is on its way to become an international language.
The objectives of the Hindi Samaaj are to highlight the role of Hindi as an international language. The aim of Hindi Samaaj is to strengthen our links to the people of Indian origin and to express our goodwill towards them.
a. Be a secular, non-political and non-sectarian organisation in outlook and concept and to promote appreciation and enjoyment of Hindi Language, Literature and Culture.
b. Promote appreciate and enjoyment of Hindi language, Literature and culture.
c. Conduct schools to enable interested persons to acquire familiarity with the Hindi language, its history, literature and art forms.
d. Propagate the virtues of Hindi Culture for the sake of posterity.
e. To bring about unity and solidarity among Hindi speaking people and supporters of
Hindi culture all over the world.
f. Provide opportunities to the members of the Association to enjoy various social and cultural activities such as dancing, music, movies, literature and handicraft.
g. Make available counselling assistance and hospitality to Hindi speaking people and supporters of Hindi culture in Australia when the need arises.

Australia including Hindi poetry, plays and children's folk dances.
Flute recital by world famous Pt. Hari Prasad Chaurasia in Sydney.

An evening with Indian film actress Shabana Azmi to promote poetry and
collect funds for improvement of Bombay slums
TV presentation on Indian TV about life and times of migrants of Indian
origin to Australia and their use and promotion of Hindi
Yearly magazine CHETNA in Hindi
An evening with Neeraj, famous Hindi Poet from India
Baal Diwas (Children's Day) promoting children to present cultural items
and celebrate the day to coincide with similar celebrations in India in
November of each year
An evening of classical music in Sydney combining both North and South
Indian styles with famous artists Dr. Rajam, Ustad Zakir Hussain and
others
Comedy plays in Hindi on stage and community radio in Sydney
Participation in CARNIVALE of Sydney, especially in literary programmes
such as gathering of Poets where Samaaj is represented by English and
Hindi poets

Liaison with Dept. of Asian Studies at University of Sydney for promotion of
Hindi & Urdu in graduate courses
An evening of Comic and Satirical poetry in Hindi on 19th September, 1998
